Academician Ljubomir Ljuba Ivanović (1882–1945), painter and graphic artist, spent his entire life in Belgrade. Staring at the timeless architectural values, sacral monuments of Christian and Islamic culture, he left remarkable observations about it. The founder of the modern school of drawing and graphics in Serbia, educated in Munich, Ivanović belonged to the circle of friends of Ažbe’s studio, exhibited in the country and abroad, was a pedagogue, and above all an artist deeply connected to national tradition, historical monuments, old towns, ethnographic and colorful motifs. His drawings and graphics are documents about the epochs he visited with his thoughts. Ivanović’s experience of the landscape is an exciting testimony to his feelings as he silently visited many beautiful Serbian regions.
