Polyphon is a large music box with metal records that was first produced in Leipzig in 1897. Over the next few decades, polyphon production expanded to markets in England and France, and shortly thereafter to regions in Russia, Poland, and the Balkans. Since 1913, polyphones of the “Polydor” brand have appeared. Polyphonic discs are made in different sizes, from 6 to 24.5 inches, and today they are only produced by the company “Renaissance Disc’s” in England for fans and collectors of old music boxes.
