The world of emperors and elves, in which myths, gods and ancestors influence our lives, left on the carrying poles images of deer and the Thracian horseman, stylized fertile branches of trees and flowers that would transfer power of nature and the divine to the bearer’s shoulder and protect every burden. The mythologizing and symbolism of the horse, which is also referred to by one of the names for the carrying poles, kobilka, indicates the long duration of the cult of the Thracian horseman. As in the case of this specimen, whose ends are in the form of stylized horse heads, it is widespread in Eastern Serbia.
