The goddess Athena is represented as standing calmly on an ellipsoidal pedestal, with her gaze fixed in front of her. She is dressed in a richly pleated peplos, tied high at the waist with a snake-like belt. Gorgoneion with Medusa’s head is slung over the shoulder. There are snake-shaped bracelets on the hands. With his left hand, he holds an upright shield decorated with the representation of Medusa’s head. Along the inside of the shield is a silken snake. The right arm was broken in the forearm and damaged below the shoulder. Sandaled feet peek out from under the peplos.
