The author's guidance through the exhibition “Inspired by Italy” of the Gallery of Matica Srpska was held in the Gallery of the National Museum Kraljevo, on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, starting at 7 p.m. Visitors were guided through the exhibition by Stanislava Jovanović Mindić, curator of the Gallery of Matica Srpska.
Tatjana Mihailović, PhD, museum advisor of the National Museum Kraljevo, announced the author and greeted the visitors. Stanislava Jovanović Mindić pointed to Serbian-Italian cultural and artistic ties, that is, to Serbian artists who found models and incentives for their creativity in the artistic tradition of Italy. Along with interpretations of copies of works according to Italian masters Parmigianino, Guido Reni and Pompeo Batoni, drawings of Italian cities and landscapes, as well as graphic sheets of foreign artists created according to Raphael, Titian and Annibale Caracci, were also presented.
The visitors had the opportunity to hear more about the concept of the exhibition and the Serbian artists who were educated, studied in Italy or studied in front of the works of art that they had the opportunity to see in the cities of Europe
The author pointed out that the 19th century is very significant when it comes to the encounters of Serbian artists with Italian art, considering that they were educated in Vienna, from where they started traveling to Italy, especially to the North.
