Aleksandar Zarin was born in Srpska Crnja in 1923. He finished the Academy of Fine Arts and a special course in Belgrade. He was an assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade. Zarin is the author of the most successful monuments erected to poets. Among them, two works in stone stand out: the monument to Branko Radičević on Kalemegdan, which was discovered by Ivo Andrić, and the monument to Desanka Maksimović in Valjevo. A monument to Đuro Jakšić in Srpska Crnja and Jovan Jovanović Zmaj in Novi Sad was made in bronze, as well as busts, including that of Aleksa Šantić. He died in Belgrade in 1998.
