Džube, end of the 19th century, Prizren, Kosovo and Metohija

Džube is a women’s outerwear without sleeves, cut bell-shaped and open the entire length. Our specimen is sewn from blue choke and richly decorated with floral motifs from twisted, gilded threads, lacing and braids. It is the most beautiful example of the famous Skadar embroidery and is a real rarity in the Ethnological Collection. Its decoration follows the well-known aesthetic principle of blue and gold, which is part of the artistic heritage of this area, which dates back to the Middle Ages.
