Last message of Đuro Krnjić before the shooting in Kraljevo in October 1941

One of the five surviving last messages of the executed hostages is the message of Đura Krnić, from Slunj, a sergeant in the Gendarmerie Company, sent to his family: “Send me blankets, what is… woolen socks, cigarettes, if you can get them through the boss, don’t worry about me, take care of the children, if you can tell the boss to buy two meters of wood for us. I greet the children and you, your Đuro, hide the letter well because they are tearing and throwing.”
