Hyperpyron of the Byzantine the Alexius I Comnenus (1081–1118)

On the obverse is a representation of Christ with a halo, in a tunic and a colobion, sitting on a throne. He is blessing with his right hand and holding the gospel in his left. To the left and right of the head of Christ is the inscription IC – XC. On the reverse is a standing figure of Emperor Alexius I Comnenus, with a crown on his head, dressed in a divition (tunic) and a decorated chlamys (cloak), which holds the ruler’s insignia: labarum (scepter) and a globe with a cross. At the top right is the hand of God, while at the left and right is the text.
