Triens of the Byzantine emperor Anastasius (491-518)

On the obverse the emperor’s bust in profile is depicted, turned to the right, wearing a diadem on his head, and armor and cloak on his chest. The text is flows around: DN ANASTA – SIVS PP AVG. The central part of the reverse is occupied by the representation of Victoria, who steps to the left and wears a wreath in her right hand, and a globe (ball) with a cross in her left hand. Around is the inscription VICTORIA AVGVSTORVM, and in the section there is a mint mark: CONOB (Constantinople).
