49th Children’s May Art Salon

The award competition of the 49th Children’s May Art Salon had a free theme this year, which provided the participants with a broad conceptual framework for the realization of creative artistic expression. The goal of the Children’s May Art Salon competition is to highlight the importance of art education, to adequately value the engagement and effort of individual art educators, and to recognize the creative potential of their students through the public presentation of the most successful works created in school classes.

The Children’s May Art Salon, according to its rules, involves the participation of elementary school students from the 5th to the 8th grade from the territory of the city of Kraljevo and is of a competitive nature. The primary selection, i.e. the jurying for the exhibition, is performed by art pedagogues, whose selection of works is evaluated by the Museum’s expert jury by awarding the award for the best selection of student works and the award for the most successful school in the field of art education. In addition to 9 equal prizes awarded to the most creative and technically successful works, the main prize “Milorad Mihailović” named after the art historian, curator of the Kraljevo National Museum, who founded this event, is specially awarded.

The jury for the selection and awarding of prizes at the 49th Children’s May Art Salon, which met on May 7th, 2024, was composed of: Silvija Mitrović, graduate painter of applied arts, professor at the Art School in Kraljevo, Jasmina Vasić, graduate graphic designer, professor at the Art School in Kraljevo and Jakov Jakovljević, graduate graphic designer and illustrator, president of the jury.
