Guided Tour Through the Exhibition “Inspired by Italy”

Guided tour through the exhibition “Inspired by Italy” of the Gallery of Matica Srpska will be organized on Wednesday, October 1st, 2024, at 6 p.m. Art historian Jelena Marković will guide you through the exhibition.
Through more than 30 works of art by Serbian painters from the 19th and 20th centuries, such as Novak Radonić, Nadežda Petrović, Jeftimi Popović and others, the exhibition “Inspired by Italy” shows a journey through the history of Serbian-Italian cultural and artistic ties, as well as the experience of artists who drew inspiration from the Italian artistic tradition.
The exhibition includes copies of great works by Italian masters such as Parmigianino, Guido Reni and Pompeo Batoni, as well as depictions of Italian cities, people and heritage, revealing the ways in which Serbian artists integrated Italian styles and motifs into their work. Professional guidance will provide a comprehensive insight into the techniques, styles and influences that have shaped the artistic works of Serbian creators, at the same time highlighting the importance of Italian art for the development of their artistic identity.
