Publications in the Development of Society and State IV: Public Word of Public Figures

The scientific conference entitled “Publications in the Development of Society and State IV: Public Word of Public Figures” will be held in the National Museum Kraljevo, as part of the Žica Spiritual Assembly “Transfiguration 2024”. It is the fourth gathering of researchers from the fields of history, political science, law and philology organized by the National Museum Kraljevo with the support of the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade and the Institute for Political Studies from Belgrade. During the two days of the meeting, on August 17th and 18th, 2024, twenty scientists will present their works.

The main intention of the scientific and organizational committee is to improve the knowledge of the role of the printed word in the historical trends of the Balkan areas by presenting and creating scientific papers. The initial impetus for the preparation and organization of this scientific conference, as well as the previous ones, was the activity of Slavoljub Maržik, MSc, who focused his efforts on preserving the history of our city by collecting newspaper articles about Karanovac, i.e. Kraljevo in Serbian newspapers. The collected historical material, published in four books published by the National Museum Kraljevo, facilitated the research work, inspired and motivated the professional public to contribute to the set noble goal.

The main topic of this year’s scientific conference is aimed at highlighting the role of individuals, public social and cultural workers as well as scientists and artists who influenced social trends and public opinion, political attitudes and cultural trends through their work, social activity or public performances. The researcher’s focus is on public engagements and performances and reactions to published works, then subsequent analyses that encouraged polemics, reflections and searches for ideas highlighted in these works and that left a mark on public opinion, shaping society, changing previous ideas about certain social attitudes or movements. Also, in the scientific works that will be presented, political or cultural echoes in society at the time of the appearance of certain personalities on the public scene, the development of their ideas, the presentation and reactions of the public, expert circles or political and state bodies will be analysed.
