The exhibition which opens as part of the national event Žiča Spiritual Assembly “Transfiguration 2020”\, presents to the public for the first time this valuable collection\, which is a kind of cross-section of the opus of this Canadian artist of Serbian origin. Bonifacho is the stage name of Blagoje Srdić\, an artist who has lived and worked in Canada since 1973. He was born in 1937 in Belgrade\, whereas a young man he studied drawing and painting at the famous school in Šumatovačka Street. He graduated from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade (Department of Painting and Drawing) in 1965\, and then from the Faculty of Architecture\, University of Belgrade in 1967. He completed his studies at the Atelier Kruger in Frankfurt\, dealing with the painting techniques of old masters. As a young artist\, he traveled a lot and perfected his knowledge in Rome\, Milan\, Paris\, Amsterdam\, where he painted and exhibited with great success. He belonged to the Belgrade Art Circle\, until 1973\, when he went to Vancouver\, where he lives and works to this day. He is a member of CARFAC\, the Association of Canadian Professional Visual Artists. He has won numerous scholarships\, including several Arts Council of British Columbia (1996\, 1998\, 2000)\, then the Canadian Arts Council (1999\, 2000\, 2001\, 2002) and others. He has exhibited in over 60 solo exhibitions\, as well as in many collective and exhibitions where works from public and corporate collections are presented. The exhibition is realized under the auspices of the Embassy of Canada in Belgrade\, which financially supported the printing of catalogs and accompanying material\, to promote art\, cultural values and international cooperation. These are numerous events recorded on thousands of pages of preserved newspapers\, which were published in Serbia in the period from 1835 to 1908. The end of the crisis caused by the Customs War\, which culminated in the annexation of Bosnia and Herzegovina\, closes the period from 1904 to 1908\, which is a turning point for many events and temptations that Serbia will soon face\, and is therefore taken as a chronological border. By the variety of topics and stories\, as well as by the numerous important and unimportant events that the newspapers noted\, this and previous books\, certainly and documented testify to the times that this town went through in the 19th and in the first decades of the 20th century. \nAmong the numerous records\, the Maržik family also found its place\, which has been present in the common story of Kraljevo for more than one hundred and forty years. Proof of the mutual respect of Kraljevo and the Maržiks is the attempt to preserve the soul of the old town on the Ibar\, among other things\, with this book\, in the belief that Kraljevo and the Maržiks left a sincere trace of life and evidence of mutual respect. The importance\, role\, contribution\, and values of Dr. Đorđe Radić in the founding of Serbian agriculture are best illustrated by his works: over 40 published books; editorial board in the newspapers “Seljak”\, “Težak”\, “Domaćin”\, “Cvetarstvo” and over 560 published articles in them; 31 published articles in various calendars; then membership in 67 agricultural and cultural societies (three of which are American). In the period from April to November 1915\, an organized group of 45 members of the medical staff and volunteers\, led by Mrs. Mabel Sinclair Stobart\, arrived in Kragujevac as the Third Unit of the Serbian Support Fund. The journey of the members of this mission from London to Kragujevac lasted almost a month. Having in mind the typhus epidemic\, Mabel Stobart prepared to work in the hospital under tents. After arriving in Kragujevac\, with the help of the Serbian military command\, the location on the city racetrack was chosen – in the settlement of Vašarište\, and 62 tents were set up\, which the Unit delivered with it. The original goal of the Mission was to provide medical assistance to soldiers suffering from typhus\, but\, with the consent of the Serbian military ambulance\, the mission shifted to treating the wounded and the health-neglected civilian population. In a short time\, seven dispensaries were opened (Kragujevac\, Lapovo\, Natalinci\, Rekovac\, Rudnik\, Vitanovac and Ovčar Banja). For six months\, 20\,000 patients passed through Stobart Hospital. Part of the staff is affected by typhus; volunteer Mabel Dirmer and sister Lorna Ferris died of typhus and were buried in the City Cemetery in Kragujevac\, along with Dr. Elizabeth Ross. In October 1915\, part of the staff of Stobart Hospital set out to withdraw with the Serbian army. The brave British Mabel Sinclair Stobart is entrusted by the Serbian command to lead one column; they arrive at their destination without any loss of humanity. Mabel Stobart herself left the most detailed and extensive testimony about the work of the Stobart Hospital in a book published as early as 1916\, entitled The Flaming Sword in Serbia and Elsewhere (in Serbian\, published by Prometheus and RTS\, 2016). This testimony was openly engaged to provide the British with the most accurate insight into the war situation in Serbia and to encourage further assistance to the Serbian people. During 1915 and 1916\, three other important books by members of the Stobart mission were published in London: My Diary in Serbia by Monica Stanley\, Letters from Stobart Hospital by Mabel Dirmer and Withdrawal from Serbia by Olive Aldridge. Terzić 1867-1939 DESCRIPTION:Preserving the memory of Minister of War and Army General Božidar Terzić\, a famous local benefactor and great military leader\, the Museum of the Rudnik-Takovo Region has prepared an exhibition dedicated to this famous general from Gornji Milanovac\, which follows his life\, both public and private. The audience will have the opportunity to see numerous photographs\, books\, as well as personal items of the famous general. The authors of the exhibition\, which has been a guest in numerous institutions in the country and abroad\, are the curators of the Museum of the Rudnik-Takovo Region\, Irena Mandić and Aleksandar Marušić. At the opening of the exhibition\, about the rich military life and work of the benefactor General Božidar P. Terzić\, a lecture will be given by Aleksandar Marušić\, director of the Museum of the Rudnik-Takovo Region and one of the authors of the exhibition. During the realization of this project\, the funds of the Military Museum\, the Historical Museum of Serbia\, the National Museum Čačak\, the Archives of Serbia\, the Archives of Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts\, the Military Archives\, the Center for Military Scientific Documentation\, Information and Librarianship\, as well as items owned by individuals were used. The most significant period in Božidar Terzić’s military career\, without any doubt\, was his participation in the liberation wars of Serbia. As the commander of the Šumadija Division of the 1st call\, he achieved decisive victories on Drenko and Rajčanski Rid\, which directly decided the outcome of the Second Balkan War. During the first two years of World War II\, at the head of his unit\, he participated in the most important operations of the Serbian army\, and with the reconstruction of Nikola Pašić’s cabinet on December 6th\, 1915\, he was appointed Minister of War. He performed this very delicate function until 1918\, when he was elected an extraordinary envoy to the People’s Council in Sarajevo\, with the task of regulating the war and other issues on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina\, ie Dalmatia. Two years earlier\, due to his demonstrated abilities in performing responsible duties\, he was promoted to the rank of general. After the end of the war\, as the commander of the 3rd Army District\, he participated in the suppression of the Arnaut uprisings and the suppression of Bulgarian propaganda in Southern Serbia. He retired for the first time at his own request in the spring of 1920\, only to return to service three years later\, earning the rank of army general. The decision to keep and protect Danka’s legacy in the institution where she spent 40 years as the first conservator\, symbolically realized the famous phrase preserved in anecdotes by which Danka informed her colleagues about leaving the museum building: “I’m going and coming back!”. In a symbolic sense\, Danka returned to the Museum\, but this time not as a guardian of heritage\, but as a heritage that is preserved. In addition to being one of the first professionals in the museum profession in our city\, Danka was also the first academically educated painter\, as well as the first member of Association of Fine Artists of Serbia in Kraljevo. Fifteen years after the retrospective exhibition organized at the National Museum in Kraljevo on the occasion of her retirement in 2006\, after the artist’s death\, there is an opportunity to make another attempt to explain\, understand and present her creative work\, since she has occupied an important and indispensable place art scene. DESCRIPTION:The exhibition “Come and Play!” presents to the public “Toys and Social Games in Socialist Yugoslavia from the Collection of Vladimir Radojičić and the collections of the National Museum Kraljevo”\, and its authors are historians of the National Museum Kraljevo Mirjana Savić\, museum advisor and Nemanja Trifunovic\, curator\, as well as ethnologist Sofija Pršić. The “Aria” Choir\, led by Dragana Milićević\, is participating in the opening. The exhibition provides a brief overview of the production\, sale and use of toys produced in Yugoslavia\, but also imported from other countries in the period from the fifties to the eighties of the twentieth century\, as well as insight into various economic\, political and social circumstances\, which directly affected childhood and growing up in socialist Yugoslavia. The Children’s May Art Salon\, according to its rules\, implies the participation of elementary school students from 5th to 8th grade from the territory of the City of Kraljevo. The exhibition is of a competitive nature\, and awards are given to children\, but also to pedagogues who followed their work. The cooperation of the Museum’s curator with the teachers\, established at the beginning and during the participation in the competition\, is important for the final result that we see in the final exhibition. The primary selection\, ie judging for the exhibition\, is performed by art pedagogues\, whose selection of works is evaluated by the expert jury of the Museum by awarding the prize for the best selection of student works and the prize for the most successful school in the field of art education. From her earliest works\, done in classical media (oils on canvas and drawings)\, through digital graphics\, objects and installations\, there is a noticeable preoccupation with internet communication and its aesthetics. More precisely\, the author creates and intervenes in the field of social networks and digital culture\, as a basis for researching first artistic values\, and then all other challenges of the global community. From the first works\, called “Street View”\, through the series “Repetiton” and “Add to Your Story”\, Jovana is interested in the relationship between man and digital culture\, his needs and (dis)satisfaction because he becomes part of this privileged narrative. Her awareness of networks as a utopian reality grows into a critical and exploratory relationship\, in which she probes “new” values that connect\, redefine and influence the shaping of the public and the private. Facebook\, Instagram\, likes\, search and scrolling become networked sets of information that\, with a superficial and frivolous relationship\, grow into one clumsy technoorganism\, and it significantly affects man and his environment. However\, from one such relationship\, one can\, and in the end should\, come to enlightenment\, transformation. It is in this direction that new works by Jovana Banjanac called “Post” are being created. From the mentioned internet fund\, the artist will start researching digital tools\, databases\, an unlimited range of images and content in order to come to research and interpretation of micro and macro ecosystems\, dealing with the immediate environment\, nature and future survival. She was also a scholarship holder of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the achieved results and the winner of the award of the municipality of Vrnjačka Banja\, for successes during schooling. As a performer\, she has won 15 awards at national and international competitions and has a rich concert activity\, and as an accompanist she has participated in various festivals\, solo concerts\, events\, promotions\, guest appearances. What do we remember? Family albums or school textbooks? Celebrations or commemorations? Stories of our ancestors or stories from the neighborhood? The artist Stefana Savić is a guest at the National Museum in Kraljevo and within the project “The House of Unforgettability” invites fellow citizens to share their memories of marking October 14th\, the day of commemoration for the victims of mass shootings in Kraljevo\, conducted by the Wehrmacht in 1941. The conversation will take place on October 15th\, 2021\, between 4 and 8 pm\, at the National Museum Kraljevo. \n“The House of Unforgettability” is a part and the beginning of an artistic work that deals with a historical event and its perception today. It explores the boundary between private and collective memory\, between memory and remembrance. The project aims to open a space dedicated to the memory of the city\, the memory of its citizens\, within the institution of the museum\, whose primary function is to collect and preserve artifacts and for the benefit of history and truth\, to remember not only the event as such but also its interpretation\, intended for our memory. \nAs sociologist Todor Kuljić points out\, memory is related to an individual’s emotional and psychological relationship to experience\, while remembrance is more related to the social and cultural context. Unintentional and unconscious perception and reaction can be parts of memory but not remembrance. Memory makes a meaningful relationship to the past. By its nature\, it is related to those institutions that preserve and transmit the contents of the past. The institutionalization of the culture of memory begins with the transition of memory into cultural memory. \nCertainly\, the most tragic event in the history of Kraljevo is October 14th\, 1941\, which to this day wanders from one meaning to another. It could be said that the interpretation\, politicization\, or culture of the memory of the event itself changed through the time in which the event itself sought its place in our memory\, in the collective memory. \nIdeological patterns of forming and preserving the collective memory affect the memory of the individual and they are in some way constantly permeated. It can be said that memory is a subjective act\, but one that is socially organized and mediated. Collective memory is not the sum or average of individual memories\, but an expression of the supra-individual needs of a group at a given moment. \nThe “The House of Unforgettability” is precisely the space that gives equal importance to the descendants and our memory of them. On the one hand\, to remember our ancestors\, and on the other hand\, to re-examine our collective memory in relation to them. Historians will talk about the book: Dejan Ristić\, PhD\, acting director of the Genocide Victims’ Museum\, Darko Gučanin\, director of the National Museum Kraljevo\, Mirjana Savić\, museum advisor of the National Museum Kraljevo\, as well as the author Silvija Krejaković\, museum advisor of the Belgrade City Museum\, who worked at the National Museum Kraljevo for over two decades. \nThis valuable and unique scientific study was published as a contribution of the Genocide Victims’ Museum to mark the upcoming sad 80th anniversary of the Kraljevo massacre of civilians committed by German Nazi occupation authorities and the armed forces in mid-October 1941. \nSilvija Krejaković’s scientific study contains so far\, the most complete and thorough analysis of one of the greatest war crimes committed against innocent civilians in the territory of the Republic of Serbia during the entire duration of the Second World War. Thanks to such a concept\, the audience will be able to see the entire opus and her short and dynamic life\, which is marked by schooling\, travel\, and constant creation in European capitals: from her native Požarevac and Belgrade to Munich\, Paris\, Rome\, and finally\, New York. \nMilena Pavlović Barilli (Požarevac\, November 5\, 1909 – New York\, March 6\, 1945) was a Serbian painter and one of the most authentic figures of artistic Europe between the two wars. She has lived and worked in Paris since 1932\, and in the United States since 1939\, where she died prematurely at the age of 36. She regularly participated in the exhibitions of the pavilion “Cvijeta Zuzorić” and the art group “Lada”\, and she successfully exhibited her works in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Europe\, and later in America. However\, due to her long stay and death abroad\, she was almost forgotten in Serbia. Thanks\, first of all\, to her mother Danica Pavlović\, on the initiative of Miodrag Protić\, under the roof of the renovated old family house of Pavlović in Požarevac\, the Gallery of Milena Pavlović Barilli was opened on June 24\, 1962. Radio dispatches preserved in the Military Archives in Belgrade have been used only sporadically and partially in historiography for decades. These documents refer to the entire territory of the occupied Kingdom of Yugoslavia and to various aspects of warfare and everyday life in the war: personnel policy in the army\, revenge and repression of the occupiers\, propaganda\, monetary disorder\, daily dealing with scarcity\, etc. \nOf great importance for a wider circle of interested readers is the overview map of the formation of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland corps and the introductory study in which the authors\, using relevant literature and numerous archival sources\, presented the complex historical context in which the documents were created. They researched\, reconstructed\, and presented the analysis of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland communication system with great care\, which is a novelty in Serbian historiography. In most of the dispatches\, personal names are written in encrypted form\, which led the authors to decipher\, systematize and publish a list of names on 25 pages in the form of attachments with a clear explanation and codebook. Thirteen photographs and the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland Radio Communication Scheme have visually and substantively enriched this unique monograph. \nReviewers Academician Ljubodrag Dimić\, Bojan Dimitrijević\, PhD and Petar Ristanović\, PhD along with the editor-in-chief Predrag Marković\, PhD stood behind this historiographically valuable edition\, which will be an unavoidable determinant in further research of World War II in the former Yugoslavia. . For this purpose\, he uses archival material as a potential source for the possible identification of multilayered temporal and spatial relations\, ie the discovery of their many possible and inconsistent meanings. Thus\, the backbone and basic narrative\, which breaks and connects all his works\, becomes a family photo archive\, which\, thanks to memory\, becomes a potential creative system\, within which the artist discovers and (re) constructs implicit and hidden dispositions. Like an archaeologist\, he digs up and discovers personal “small” histories\, intimate episodes and geographical topos\, which are nothing but a potential system of resonances\, strings\, which flicker before us with a willing\, intentional memory. \nIvan Šuković (1981\, Podgorica) graduated in literature at the Faculty of Philosophy\, University of Montenegro\, and postgraduate studies at the University of Arts in Belgrade\, where he received his master’s degree from the Department of Digital Arts and New Media and his doctorate from the Department of Multimedia Arts. He studied at the International School of the University of Oslo in Norway in 2009. In the period from 2011 to 2021\, he had several solo exhibitions\, while with group exhibitions\, except in the countries of the region\, he presented his work in Austria\, Germany\, Great Britain\, Russia and Italy. Participant in the “Takt” project\, residence in Berlin\, for 2013 and finalist of the “Milchik” award for 2019. He is the representative of Montenegro at the 59th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale in 2022.
