SUMMARY:Kraljevo in the Serbian Press 1909-1918
DESCRIPTION:The promotion of the book “Kraljevo in the Serbian Press 1904-1908”\, prepared by Slavoljub Maržik\, will be held in the Gallery of the National Museum in Kraljevo\, on Wednesday\, October 6th\, 2021\, starting at 6 p.m. Historians Bojana Miljković Katić\, PhD\, Radomir J. Popović\, PhD and Ljubodrag P. Ristić\, PhD will talk about the book. \nWith the book “Kraljevo in the Serbian Press 1909-1918”\, Slavoljub Maržik attaches the fourth tome to a kind of biography of Kraljevo\, after the books “Karanovac in the Serbian Press 1835-1867”\, “Karanovac and Kraljevo and in the Serbian Press 1868-1903” and “Kraljevo in the Serbian Press 1904-1908” by the same editor. These are numerous events recorded on thousands of pages of preserved newspapers\, which were published in Serbia in the period from 1835 to 1908. By the variety of topics and stories\, as well as by the numerous important and unimportant events that the newspapers noted\, this and previous books\, certainly and documented testify to the times that this town went through in the 19th and in the first decades of the 20th century. \nAmong the numerous records\, the Maržik family also found its place\, which has been present in the common story of Kraljevo for more than one hundred and forty years. Proof of the mutual respect of Kraljevo and the Maržiks is the attempt to preserve the soul of the old town on the Ibar\, among other things\, with this book\, in the belief that Kraljevo and the Maržiks left a sincere trace of life and evidence of mutual respect.

SUMMARY:Artistic project of Stefana Savić “The House of Unforgettability”
DESCRIPTION:History it is undeniable and unchangeable\, but our interpretations are changing. Thus\, it becomes clearer that without a rational confrontation with the interpretations of history\, there is no ontological history. (Todor Kuljić) \nHow do we remember events from the past? What do we remember? Family albums or school textbooks? Celebrations or commemorations? Stories of our ancestors or stories from the neighborhood? The artist Stefana Savić is a guest at the National Museum in Kraljevo and within the project “The House of Unforgettability” invites fellow citizens to share their memories of marking October 14th\, the day of commemoration for the victims of mass shootings in Kraljevo\, conducted by the Wehrmacht in 1941. The conversation will take place on October 15th\, 2021\, between 4 and 8 pm\, at the National Museum Kraljevo. \n“The House of Unforgettability” is a part and the beginning of an artistic work that deals with a historical event and its perception today. It explores the boundary between private and collective memory\, between memory and remembrance. The project aims to open a space dedicated to the memory of the city\, the memory of its citizens\, within the institution of the museum\, whose primary function is to collect and preserve artifacts and for the benefit of history and truth\, to remember not only the event as such but also its interpretation\, intended for our memory. \nAs sociologist Todor Kuljić points out\, memory is related to an individual’s emotional and psychological relationship to experience\, while remembrance is more related to the social and cultural context. Unintentional and unconscious perception and reaction can be parts of memory but not remembrance. Memory makes a meaningful relationship to the past. By its nature\, it is related to those institutions that preserve and transmit the contents of the past. The institutionalization of the culture of memory begins with the transition of memory into cultural memory. \nCertainly\, the most tragic event in the history of Kraljevo is October 14th\, 1941\, which to this day wanders from one meaning to another. It could be said that the interpretation\, politicization\, or culture of the memory of the event itself changed through the time in which the event itself sought its place in our memory\, in the collective memory. \nIdeological patterns of forming and preserving the collective memory affect the memory of the individual and they are in some way constantly permeated. It can be said that memory is a subjective act\, but one that is socially organized and mediated. Collective memory is not the sum or average of individual memories\, but an expression of the supra-individual needs of a group at a given moment. \nThe “The House of Unforgettability” is precisely the space that gives equal importance to the descendants and our memory of them. On the one hand\, to remember our ancestors\, and on the other hand\, to re-examine our collective memory in relation to them. Because the past is as far away as we do not mention it. \n

It is\, at the same time\, a true treasure trove of information and knowledge\, but also an invitation to modern generations to remember the innocent victims of Kraljevo responsibly\, objectively\, and permanently. \nThe reviewer of this scientific study is academician Ljubodrag Dimić\, Head of the Chair for Yugoslav History within the Department of History of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade\, who in the analysis of the scientific research of Mrs. Krejaković translated into this capital study especially emphasized: “Instead of political use and “bidding”\, we have before us a research result that is characterized by precision in establishing facts\, circumstances\, context.” \nThis first-class valuable scientific work was published as the first in the newly established edition of the Genocide Victims’ Museum called Sine ira et studio (Latin – without anger and bias)\, within which the most important scientific works originally created in the Serbian language will be published. \nThe executive editor of the publishing activities of the Genocide Victims’ Museum is the historian Aleksandra Mišić. The author of the conceptual design of the cover of the book is our prominent graphic artist Nikola Radosavljević\, PhD Arts.

SUMMARY:Milena Pavlović Barilli – Life and Dreams
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition “Milena Pavlović Barilli – Life and Dreams” by Violeta Tomić\, senior curator of the Gallery of Milena Pavlović Barilli in Požarevac\, is a chronological cross-section of Milena’s painting\, from 1926 (school period) to 1944 (American commercial-illustrative period). Thanks to such a concept\, the audience will be able to see the entire opus and her short and dynamic life\, which is marked by schooling\, travel\, and constant creation in European capitals: from her native Požarevac and Belgrade to Munich\, Paris\, Rome\, and finally\, New York. \nMilena Pavlović Barilli (Požarevac\, November 5\, 1909 – New York\, March 6\, 1945) was a Serbian painter and one of the most authentic figures of artistic Europe between the two wars. She has lived and worked in Paris since 1932\, and in the United States since 1939\, where she died prematurely at the age of 36. She regularly participated in the exhibitions of the pavilion “Cvijeta Zuzorić” and the art group “Lada”\, and she successfully exhibited her works in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Europe\, and later in America. However\, due to her long stay and death abroad\, she was almost forgotten in Serbia. Thanks\, first of all\, to her mother Danica Pavlović\, on the initiative of Miodrag Protić\, under the roof of the renovated old family house of Pavlović in Požarevac\, the Gallery of Milena Pavlović Barilli was opened on June 24\, 1962. Danica donated the art fund of her deceased daughter to the Serbian people with the obligation to preserve this legacy as a whole. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Milena with her Mother by Milena Pavlović Barilli\, 1926.\n \n \n \n \n \n Posthumous Cast of Milena’s Hands by Malvina Hoffman\, 1945\, New York\, bronze\, height 25 cm\, Collection of the Gallery of Milena Pavlović Barilli (GMB-PZ-1).\n \n \n \n \n \n Sketch and model of a dress by Milena Pavlović Barilli\, 1926.\n \n \n \n \n \n Milena by Carl Van Vechten\, 1940\, New York\n \n \n \n \n \n Enigmatic Composition with a Female Figure\, a Pillar and a Tree by MIlena Pavlović Barilli\, 1933\, oil on canvas\, 67\,5 x 60 cm\, Collection of the Gallery of Milena Pavlović Barilli (GMB-10).\n \n \n \n \n \n Self-portrait with White Ribbon by Milena Pavlović Barilli\,1929\, oil on canvas\, 55 x 45 cm\, Collection of the Gallery of Milena Pavlović Barilli (GMB-35).

SUMMARY:Radio Dispatches of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland 1941 – 1942
DESCRIPTION:The monograph “Radio Dispatches of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland 1941 – 1942”\, published by the Institute for Contemporary History in Belgrade\, is the result of the aspirations of three historians\, Rado Ristanović\, PhD\, Milutin Živković\, PhD and MA Miloš Čorbić\, to present to the professional and public inaccessible archival material\, as well as to fill the decades-long historiographical gap on the activities of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland. \nIn this collection of documents of 1018 pages\, there are hundreds of typed and prepared radio dispatches that were received and sent by the Supreme Command of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland during 1942. Radio dispatches preserved in the Military Archives in Belgrade have been used only sporadically and partially in historiography for decades. These documents refer to the entire territory of the occupied Kingdom of Yugoslavia and to various aspects of warfare and everyday life in the war: personnel policy in the army\, revenge and repression of the occupiers\, propaganda\, monetary disorder\, daily dealing with scarcity\, etc. \nOf great importance for a wider circle of interested readers is the overview map of the formation of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland corps and the introductory study in which the authors\, using relevant literature and numerous archival sources\, presented the complex historical context in which the documents were created. They researched\, reconstructed\, and presented the analysis of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland communication system with great care\, which is a novelty in Serbian historiography. In most of the dispatches\, personal names are written in encrypted form\, which led the authors to decipher\, systematize and publish a list of names on 25 pages in the form of attachments with a clear explanation and codebook. Thirteen photographs and the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland Radio Communication Scheme have visually and substantively enriched this unique monograph. \nReviewers Academician Ljubodrag Dimić\, Bojan Dimitrijević\, PhD and Petar Ristanović\, PhD along with the editor-in-chief Predrag Marković\, PhD stood behind this historiographically valuable edition\, which will be an unavoidable determinant in further research of World War II in the former Yugoslavia. .

SUMMARY:Ivan Šuković – Felicità
DESCRIPTION:Through his artistic practice\, Ivan Šuković analyzes the meaning and processes of memory in attempts to re-establish closeness with something distant or lost in time and absent in material space. For this purpose\, he uses archival material as a potential source for the possible identification of multilayered temporal and spatial relations\, ie the discovery of their many possible and inconsistent meanings. Thus\, the backbone and basic narrative\, which breaks and connects all his works\, becomes a family photo archive\, which\, thanks to memory\, becomes a potential creative system\, within which the artist discovers and (re) constructs implicit and hidden dispositions. Like an archaeologist\, he digs up and discovers personal “small” histories\, intimate episodes and geographical topos\, which are nothing but a potential system of resonances\, strings\, which flicker before us with a willing\, intentional memory. \nIvan Šuković (1981\, Podgorica) graduated in literature at the Faculty of Philosophy\, University of Montenegro\, and postgraduate studies at the University of Arts in Belgrade\, where he received his master’s degree from the Department of Digital Arts and New Media and his doctorate from the Department of Multimedia Arts. He studied at the International School of the University of Oslo in Norway in 2009. In the period from 2011 to 2021\, he had several solo exhibitions\, while with group exhibitions\, except in the countries of the region\, he presented his work in Austria\, Germany\, Great Britain\, Russia and Italy. Participant in the “Takt” project\, residence in Berlin\, for 2013 and finalist of the “Milchik” award for 2019. He is the representative of Montenegro at the 59th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale in 2022.

SUMMARY:LP – History of the Gramophone and the Golden Age of Records
DESCRIPTION:“LP – History of the Gramophone and the Golden Age of Records” is a joint exhibition of the City Museum Subotica and the Museum of Science and Technology in Belgrade\, which is realized with the support of the National Museum Kraljevo. The Exhibition is about the popularity and golden age of gramophone records in Yugoslavia\, an era that lasted several decades. The importance of one of the most important home appliances of the 20th century – His Majesty the Gramophone – has not been neglected. \nThe desire to record and reproduce the human voice dates back to the earliest times. Through music boxes such as self-playing bells used on churches and towers in Europe\, then organets and polyphonics\, and then phonographs\, phonoautographs and graphophones\, sound was reproduced through gramophones. Within the exhibition visitors can see more than 25 types of gramophones and their predecessors. The exhibition also deals with cultural phenomena of the 20th century that influenced the lives of citizens of Subotica and Subotica as one of the pillars of popular culture in the former Yugoslavia. Emphasis was placed on gramophones\, gramophone records and cultural life and programs in Subotica that were closely related to them. \nA special part of the exhibition “LP – History of the Gramophone and the Golden Age of Records” is about the first gramophones and gramophone records in Kraljevo\, their purchase from Western European countries\, but also from Yugoslav factories. The audience will find out who were people from Kraljevo who recorded gramophone records and which radio stations and shows created musical taste and educated the people of Kraljevo. There is a story about the first discos and clubs where people of Kraljevo had fun\, which gramophone record stores existed in the town on the Ibar and how the sound recorded on vinyl has survived to this day. \nThe author of the exhibition is Viktorija Šimon Vuletić\, museum advisor of the City Museum Subotica\, while Mirjana Savić\, museum advisor and Oleg Romanov\, senior curator\, joined the exhibition in front of the National Museum Kraljevo as part of the author team. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Polyphon “Symphonion”\, late 19th century\, Leipzig\, Germany\, Museum of Science and Technology Belgrade.\n \n \n \n \n \n Phonograph “Thomas A. SUMMARY:47th Children’s May Art Salon
DESCRIPTION:The most important and oldest exhibition of children’s art in our city is being organized for the 47th time in a row\, as a result of a successfully realized competition. The goal of organizing this traditional exhibition is to publicly present the most successful works created in school classes\, emphasize the importance of art education\, adequately evaluate the engagement and work of individual art pedagogues\, and recognize the intellectual and creative potential of their students. The theme of this year’s Salon is “Motif from the Ibar”\, according to the title of the painting by Miodrag B. Protić\, whose centenary we are celebrating on May 10th. Miodrag B. Protić (1922–2014)\, one of the most important Serbian artists of the 20th century\, art critic\, founder and first director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade. He was born in Vrnjačka Banja\, and he finished high school in Kraljevo\, right in the building where the National Museum Kraljevo is located today. As a gifted student\, his first exhibition was organized there\, and the work “Motif from the Ibar” is connected to that part of his life. \nAccording to its rules\, the Children’s May Art Salon implies the participation of elementary school students from 5th to 8th grade from the territory of the city of Kraljevo. The exhibition is of a competitive nature\, and the awards are presented to children\, but also to pedagogues who followed their work. The cooperation of the Museum’s curator with teachers\, established at the beginning and during the participation in the competition\, is important for the final result that we see in the final exhibition. The primary selection\, ie the jury for the exhibition\, is performed by art pedagogues\, whose selection of works is evaluated by the Museum’s expert jury by awarding the prize for the best selection of student works and the prize for the most successful school in the field of art education. In addition to 9 equal awards that are given to the most creative and technically most successfully performed works\, a special award is given\, which is named “Milorad Mihailović” in honor of the art historian\, the founder of this event.

SUMMARY:OZNA – Political Repression in Serbia 1944-1946. Documents
DESCRIPTION:The Department for the Protection of the People (OZNA) was founded on May 13th\, 1944\, and as secret police\, with its ubiquitous ideology and cult of personality\, it was the mainstay of the communist dictatorship at a time when revolutionary power was being established in Yugoslavia and Serbia. The book “OZNA – Political Repression in Serbia 1944-1946. Documents” published by Catena Mundi and the Institute of Contemporary History in Belgrade\, authored by Srđan Cvetković\, PhD and Nemanja Dević\, PhD bring hitherto unknown and first published documents that reveal and reconstruct in detail the state repression during communism. Based on the documentation that the BIA forwarded to the competent archives from 2004 to 2012\, the authors shed light on the organizational structure and activities of the OZNA towards the Serbian bourgeoisie. Secret police documents faithfully testify to how many Serbian citizens were killed\, imprisoned\, and expelled in the first years of communist rule. Also\, data on OZNA agents and executors\, as well as those who made decisions on the execution of citizens\, are presented. The book is a documentary study of the organization and operation of the OZNA and its basic tasks as classic political police in a totalitarian society. \nThe program\, as a type of book promotion and forum\, includes: moderator Ena Mirković\, Srđan Cvetković\, PhD\, Kosta Nikolić\, PhD and Prof. Jovica Trkulja. The forum also includes a review of other editions of Catena Mundi: “Resistance to the Communist Regime in Serbia 1945-1991” by Srđan Cvetković (2021)\, “Life of a Rebel” by Borislav Pekić (2019) and “In the Lobby of Hell” by Sava Banković (2019).

SUMMARY:European Museum Night
DESCRIPTION:The program of the European Museum Night at the National Museum in Kraljevo this year was inspired by the exhibition “LP – History of the Gramophone and the Golden Age of Records”. In addition to the exhibition itself\, the public can actively participate in the record exchange\, on the Square in front of the museum building. Concerts of two rock groups and a performance by a popular DJ are being organized\, who will “return to the audience by playing the gramophone” in the years of the biggest expansion of LP at 33 rpm. \nLP – History of the Gramophone and the Golden Age of Records\nPhonoautograph of Eduard-Leon Scott de Martinville\, 1860 \nLike a time machine\, this exhibition takes the visitors through the slightly forgotten world of records. The display extremely attractively and thoroughly presents the history of development of gramophones\, records\, different styles of popular music as well as their social and aesthetic contexts during the 20th century. Through this type of material\, the exhibition introduces us to the world of popular music of different styles\, as well as their social and aesthetic context during the twentieth century. A special part of the exhibition refers to the first gramophones and gramophone records in Kraljevo\, which were procured from Western European countries\, but also from Yugoslav factories. The audience will find out who the people of Kraljevo were who recorded gramophone records and which radio stations and shows influenced the formation of the musical taste of their listeners. There is a story about the first discos and clubs\, the people of Kraljevo had fun\, which gramophone record stores existed in the town on the Ibar and how the sound recorded on vinyl has survived to this day. \nRecord Exchange\nSt. Sava Square \nGramophone records\, second half of the XX century\, History Collection of the National Museum Kraljevo. \nThe programme is intended to be an open record exchange aiming at allowing collectors and lovers of the old sound reproduction technology to present their collections. We would like to invite all fans of “vinyl crackling“\, record players\, audio equipment\, original and rare editions of records to join this action! Refresh your memories\, exchange your views\, musical tastes and affinities\, and perhaps find exactly those records lacking in your collection! The record formed the cultural identity of whole generations. All of them unanimously state that listening to the sound from a record player arouses special emotions! Although nostalgia and technology do not seem to go together\, all technological breakthroughs\, which at first provoke resistance and even fear\, with further technological development move into the category of “old”\, “good”\, “known” and “safe” things which remind us of comfortable past times. Meet the nostalgia of the record market on Vinyl Night at a good\, old 33 rpm! \nMusic Programme\nSt. Sava Square \nThe Kraljevo bands which have been existing on the music scene for decades\, playing and keeping rock ’n’ roll sound consistently and devotedly. Despite the trendy music production\, whose primary goal is commercial value\, two cult bands from our city send a message that “Creating and playing music is a way to express themselves and show that peace\, love and happiness are the main principles of life…”! The Museum Night will be an occasion to remind ourselves of those slightly forgotten life goals and universal values. \n\n\n6 p.m. – 8 p.m. \n\n\nChildren’s Joy \n\n\nConcert of the Group “Children’s Joy” at the Handball Stadium “Metalac” in Kraljevo. \n “Children’s Joy” is a band from Kraljevo\, formed in 1994\, by Igor Arsenijević (guitar and vocals) and Sasa Kivić (drums)\, and soon joined by Danilo Jagodić Jagoda (bass guitar). They perform reggae music and have had many concerts in all major cities in Serbia. At the first major reggae festival in Yugoslavia\, on December 15th\, 2000\, they performed under the name “Reggae Wintersplash” as the backing band of Jamaican poets Ras Shaddu. They often perform as the Bob Marley`s Tribute Band\, performing their Marley arrangements. For the members of the group “Children’s Joy”\, the ghetto is not a cruel part of cities\, but the ghetto is in our heads and can be abolished in many ways\, and they strive to do that with music … Creating and performing music is their way of expressing and showing that they are peace\, love and happiness are the basic principles of life… By playing they want to share their feelings and help people find themselves in a natural and wonderful way… By playing\, they keep the spirit of reggae music alive\, despite the dominance of electronic and primarily commercial music on the domestic and world stage… \n\n8 p.m. – 10 p.m. \n\n\nGamma Ray\n\n\nConcert of the Group “Gamma Ray” in honor of the Moto Club “Kings“ in Mataruška Banja. \nKraljevo rock band “Gamma Ray” was founded back in 1981 and has been active on the music scene for almost a decade. A great comeback followed in 1997 with the recording of the album “Poison and Cure”\, with eight original songs. The album had a successful concert promotion\, but a new ten-year break followed. The younger generation of rock fans could hear them on January 2nd\, 2011 in the Kraljevo Sports Hall as a prelude to the legendary Dado Topić\, as well as at the festival “Happy Center” in 2012\, where they performed with bards Ex-Yu scene: Atomsko Skloniste\, YU-Group\, Time\, Gaul\, Wild Strawberries\, etc. In the same year\, the group was the host of the “Guardians of Rock and Roll” event when they presented their project “Bible of Rock”. They have been playing in squares\, clubs\, and motorcycle rallies for forty years. “Gamma Ray” also has several original songs\, and the last “Kings on Two Wheels” was made as an anthem to the Kraljevo Moto Club “Kings”. Their repertoire includes: Deep Purple\, Whitesnake\, Rainbow\, Pink Floyd\, Free\, T-Rex\, Eric Clapton\, ZZ top\, Jetro Tull\, Rolling Stones\, Doors\, Led Zeppelin\, Cream… Band members are: Milan Đokić Mikac (guitar)\, Marjan Capuder (bass guitar)\, Miroslav Radojičić Munde (drums)\, Dragan Todorović Toša (keyboards)\, Gordan Štavljanin Štavljo (vocals). \n\n\n\n\n10 p.m. – 12 a.m. \n\n\nDJ Peđa Todorović\n\n\nPerformance of DJ Peđa Todorović at the Handball Stadium “Metalac” in Kraljevo \nPeđa Todorović\, one of the most important DJs in our country\, has been involved in music for over 25 years\, during which he had many residencies\, radio broadcasts on national territory and guest appearances. In addition to all that\, he is the owner of a significant collection of vinyl. He was born in Kraljevo\, where he took the first steps that led him to his future profession\, from birthday celebrations in company with music from cassettes\, through the first significant residency in the then Rock Club and the first serious job in the mixer of “Globus” radio. The love for vinyls leads to the creation of the new organization “Intelligent People” (not a mistake)\, which takes over the organization of the first major raves in Kraljevo\, in the House of Social Stages at the club organization and in the city club organization of the club. There is a significant development of the club scene in places such as Leonardo\, Špilja\, Exit\, Urban\, Theatre and\, along with Belgrade\, Novi Sad\, Subotica and Niš\, Kraljevo was considered one of the most important countries. The expansion of rave culture brings Peđa Todorović his first guest appearances (Kragujevac\, Belgrade\, Vrnjačka Banja\, Niš)\, after which his career moved towards a music and country club and almost all national performances. \nSince modern musical expression implies the concept of “playing the gramophone”\, Museum Night will be an opportunity to “spin” many great hits on vinyl! Modern media and the creativity of DJ Peđa Todorović will make his beloved hits sound like completely new things. \n47th Children’s May Art Salon – Motif from the Ibar River\nAwarded artworks at the 47th Children’s May Art Salon in the National Museum Kraljevo \nOn the occasion of marking one hundred years from the birth of painter Miodrag B. Protić (1922–2014)\, the 47th Children’s May Art Salon has the theme “Motif from the Ibar River“\, reminding us of one of the earliest Protić’s paintings kept at the National Museum Kraljevo. Miodrag B. Protić was one of the most significant Serbian painters of the 20th century\, an art critic and the first director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade. He finished grammar school in Kraljevo\, in our today’s museum building. Being a talented student\, he had his first exhibition organized here\, and his painting “Motif from the Ibar River“ is connected with that part of his life.

SUMMARY:Captaincies of Studenica and Jošanica in 1833 – List of Haratch Heads
DESCRIPTION:The book “Captaincis of Studenica and Jošanica in 1833 – List of Haratch heads” by Radomir N. Ristić\, published by the Center for Culture “Gradac” from Raška\, presents to the scientific and public document that has rarely been used so far – the Census of Haratch Heads for 1833. Along with the transcript of the document\, general and local historical circumstances were presented before and during the census\, ie the annexation of Studenica and Jošanica to the Principality of Serbia. This is the period in which the Serbian state is being renewed and the Serbian peasant-chief is liberating the Ottoman feudal shackles\, gaining ownership over the land he is cultivating and taking initial steps towards civil society. Based on the facts from the list of tributes\, relevant sources and literature\, several conclusions were drawn about the Studenica Monastery\, demographic\, social\, health and other circumstances in the captaincies. Names and surnames for 5352 males from 1167 families residing in 202 places / villages are given. The book gives an overview of the most important anthropogeographical studies on these areas so far\, and points out other key sources which\, together with the 1833 Census\, form the basis for genealogical research. \nParticipants in the promotion: Vladan Virijević\, PhD\, professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Priština with temporary seat in Kosovska Mitrovica\, Dragan Drašković\, historian\, retired museum advisor of the National Museum Kraljevo\, Milojko Milićević\, editor of the publishing center of the Cultural Center “Gradac” in Raška and the author Radomir N. SUMMARY:Down the Road with a Carrying Pole
DESCRIPTION:Carrying poles\, arched pieces of wood\, were worn on the shoulders of women in the village in the past when they carried various types of cargo: food and water for field workers\, goods for market sale\, and even played a role in contact with the otherworldly and mystical. \nThe exhibition “Down the Road with a Carrying Pole” will give visitors the opportunity to get acquainted with a seemingly simple object\, which carries different messages. Based on the materials\, differences in the shapes and curvature of the arch\, decorations and traces of use\, numerous conclusions can be drawn about the way of life of the people who used them\, as well as entire communities. \nThe carrying poles are identified according to the wider geographical area in which they were created and used\, so that there are noticeable differences between the carrying poles made in the Dinaric\, mountainous area of western Serbia\, lowland and multicultural Vojvodina\, as well as in geographically and culturally diverse areas of central and eastern Serbia. I can still see traces of ancient civilizations. \nThe collection of carrying poles of the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade is presented at the exhibition\, as well as carrying poles from the Museum of Vojvodina. SUMMARY:Beneath the Sky of Gold and Blue: Icons by Greek Master Painters from the 15th to the 19th Century of the National Museum of Serbia
DESCRIPTION:Within the selection of the author of the exhibition\, Branka Ivanić\, museum advisor of the National Museum of Serbia\, 147 icons were included in the exhibition. We are talking about icons of authors from the territories of traditional Greek countries\, as well as from a wider area within the Ottoman Empire and neighboring countries where the influences of Greek culture remained recognizable. \nVisitors will have the opportunity to see the works of the specific Italo-Cretan iconographic style\, current between the 15th and 18th centuries in the area of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Adriatic\, created in the meeting of Orthodox and Catholic influences. The icons on display can come from the workshops or from the templates of famous Cretan painters such as Andreas Ritzos\, Nikolaos Tzafouris\, or Ieremías Palántas. Another group of Greek icons in the Collection of the National Museum of Serbia was created outside the direct influence of Italo-Cretan painting\, in the continental areas of the Balkans\, then under the rule of the Turks. One can recognize contacts with the works of the long-lasting and significant Kostur school\, whose achievements represent a non-negligible share of the total preserved painting heritage of the Balkans during the Turkish era. A special group consists of icons from the Holy Land. \nThe icon was an indispensable object of everyday life in the Orthodox world. An inalienable part of the icon is the signature\, the name of the saint or the composition. The holy person communicates his thoughts and messages directly and in real time to the observer with a text\, usually written on an unfolded scroll in his hand. Referring to the same concept\, the text and image together make the icon alive in the spirit of the one who observes it\, in the moment when he observes it. In Byzantine theology\, veneration of icons allowed the pious to have a direct connection with the divine\, teaching that the honour shown to an image is transferred to its prototype. The largest influx of Greek icons to the National Museum took place in the decades between 1955 and 1975\, when Belgrade was a key point of population migration from the southeast and the western parts of SFRY. Thanks to these multi-year acquisitions\, it was possible to form a whole that reflects the artistic events of the past when it comes to the respect and prevalence of Greek icons among Serbs\, persistent inheritors of Byzantine culture. \nThe exhibition presents the professional and scientific work of the curators of the Department for the Middle Ages of the National Museum of Serbia and the work on conservation and restoration\, as well as the range in the presentation of cultural heritage. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Icon of the Virgin with Christ\, circle of Andreas Ritzos\, 15th to 16th century\, egg tempera on wood\, gold\, 35.5 x 27 x 2.2 cm\, Post-Byzantine Art Collection of the National Museum of Serbia (NM-5413).\n \n \n \n \n \n Icon of the Nativity of Christ\, 16th century\, egg tempera on wood\, gold\, 41 x 38 x 2 cm\, Post-Byzantine Art Collection of the National Museum of Serbia (NM-2188).\n \n \n \n \n \n Royal doors with the representation of the Annunciation\, first half of the 16th century\, Ohrid\, woodcut\, egg tempera on wood\, gold\, 121 x 70 x 2.7 cm\, Post-Byzantine Art Collection of the National Museum of Serbia (NM-4232).\n \n \n \n \n \n Icon of St. Antony the Great with hagiography\, second half of the 16th century\, Modriča\, egg tempera on wood\, gold\, 40.5 x 50 x 2.2 cm\, Post-Byzantine Art Collection of the National Museum of Serbia (NM-4096).\n \n \n \n \n \n Icon of the Virgin of Mercy\, after the model of Angelos Akotantos\, 16th century\, egg tempera on wood\, gold\, 39.2 x 30 x 3 cm\, Post-Byzantine Art Collection of the National Museum of Serbia (NM-2111).\n \n \n \n \n \n Icon of the Annunciation\, according to the model of Andreas Ritzos\, 16th to 17th century\, egg tempera on wood\, gold\, 44 x 39.5 x 3 cm\, Collection of Post-Byzantine Art of the National Museum of Serbia (NM-1525).\n \n \n \n \n \n Icon of the Holy Trinity\, 17th century\, tempera on wood\, gold\, silver\, 56.7 x 41 x 2 cm\, Post-Byzantine Art Collection of the National Museum of Serbia (NM-2187).\n \n \n \n \n \n Icon of Christ the King and the Great Hierarch by Constantinos Zgouros\, first half of the 18th century\, egg tempera on wood\, canvas\, gold\, 58.5 x 40.5 x 2 cm\, Post-Byzantine Art Collection of the National Museum of Serbia (NM-2189).\n \n \n \n \n \n Icon of St. John the Hermit with scenes from hagiography by Ieremías Palládas\, first half of the 17th century\, Šibenik\, egg tempera on wood\, gold\, 78.5 x 62 x 2.5 cm\, Collection of Post-Byzantine Art of the National Museum of Serbia (NM-1527).\n \n \n \n \n \n Icon of St. John the Forerunner\, late 18th century\, egg tempera on wood\, gold\, 27.5 x 20.9 x 1.4 cm\, Post-Byzantine Art Collection of the National Museum of Serbia (NM-2454).

SUMMARY:Publications in the Development of Society and State II
DESCRIPTION:The scientific conference with international participation entitled “Publications in the Development of Society and State II” will be officially opened at the National Museum Kraljevo\, on Wednesday\, August 17th\, 2022\, starting at 10 a.m.\, within the Žica Spiritual Assembly “Transfiguration 2022”. It is the second part of a three-year project organized by the National Museum Kraljevo with the support of the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade and the Institute for Political Studies from Belgrade. During the two days of the conference\, on August 17th and 18th\, thirty scientists from the country and abroad will present their papers. \nThe idea for this scientific conference and multiple directions of research occurred during many years of Slavoljub Maržik’s efforts to collect newspaper articles on Kraljevo in Serbian newspapers and thus cherish the history of this city. The understanding of the National Museum in Kraljevo and its readiness to support those efforts and present all the collected historical material to the professional and scientific public\, in four books\, also made the organisation of the scientific conference possible. \nThe scientific board of the conference “Publication in the Development of Society and State II” defined roughly topics such as: historiography and society; social history in nonfiction (economy\, health\, education\, religious communities\, position of women…); press/newspapers and social trends; the social role of significant personalities\, families and cities through local and national newspapers; newspaper and periodical research methodology; the development of periodicals as a reflection of the development of society (propaganda and/or encouragement); political vocabulary in newspapers and periodicals; linguistic analysis of news reports; literature and politics; domestic writers and occupying newspapers; culture in politics / politics in culture / political culture; public speech and public condemnation / freedom of expression\, social criticism and political views. \nProgram of the scientific conference “Publications in the Development of Society and State II”Download\nBook of summaries of the scientific conference “Publications in the Development of Society and State II”Download

SUMMARY:Face from Eternity: Figure Drawing According to the Principles of Orthodox Church Painting of the 13th Century
DESCRIPTION:The book “Face from Eternity: Figure Drawing According to the Principles of Orthodox Church Painting of the 13th Century” by Aleksandar Pavlić\, is a drawing manual with the focus on the process of drawing the human head and the figure of saints. Although it was written for beginners\, the manual goes beyond this purpose\, as a kind of comprehensive work in the field of iconographic drawing. A special part of the book consists of examples of paintings\, primarily from the 13th\, but also from the 14th century\, from monasteries: Studenica\, Mileševa\, Sopoćani\, Hilandar\, Vatoped\, Protat Church\, Gračanica\, Old Nagoričano\, Church of the Virgin Perivlepta and other temples\, which can help the user of the manual in learning. \nIcon painting\, or icon\, is a type of liturgical language that vividly and faithfully expresses the teachings of the Orthodox Church. It is theology presented by drawing\, colour\, image\, and form\, in which simplicity is sought at the peak of expressiveness. The saints depicted on the icons and walls of the temples represent the artistic expression of the eschatological experience of the Church\, as a community of all the saints\, gathered around Christ at the Holy Mystery of the Liturgy. \nAleksandar Pavlić (1992) studied painting from an early age\, with Zoran Eric and Vladimir Karanović\, and at the School of Mechanical Engineering and Artistic Crafts “Tehnoart” in Belgrade\, he attended the department of protection of cultural assets. He completed bachelor and master studies in painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. After university\, he perfected icon painting in the Klisura Monastery\, with the nun Magdalena (Vujčić). He often stayed in the Svetogorje monasteries and the Sopoćani monastery\, where he studied Orthodox painting. He is a lecturer at the icon painting workshop “Svetlost” in Lazarevac. \nParticipating in the promotion: Jovana Durman\, MA\, art historian\, Matija Marković\, MA\, academic painter and the author Aleksandar Pavlić\, MA\, academic painter.

SUMMARY:Guided Tour through the Exhibition “Beneath the Sky of Gold and Blue”
DESCRIPTION:During the duration of the exhibition “Beneath the Sky of Gold and Blue: Icons by Greek Master Painters from the 15th to the 19th Century of the National Museum of Serbia” by Branka Ivanić\, MA\, museum advisor of the National Museum of Serbia\, every Wednesday at 1 p.m.\, Friday at 6 p.m.\, and Saturday at 11 a.m.\, we are organizing guided tours for all interested visitors. Art historians Jovana Durman and Jelena Marković will guide you through the exhibition about Greek icon painters during the long period of Ottoman rule in the Orthodox area of the Balkans\, the Adriatic and the Mediterranean. \nThe icons on display can come from the workshops or from the templates of famous Cretan painters such as Andreas Ritzos\, Nikolaos Tzafouris\, or Ieremías Palládas. Another group of Greek icons was created in the continental areas of the Balkans\, then under the rule of the Turks. On them\, one can recognize contacts with the works of the long-lasting and important Kostur school\, whose achievements represent an important part of the total preserved painting heritage of the Balkans during the Turkish era. A special group consists of icons from the Holy Land.

SUMMARY:Collection of Greek Icons of the National Museum of Serbia
DESCRIPTION:On the last day the exhibition “Beneath the Sky of Gold and Blue: Icons of Greek Master Painters from the 15th to 19th Centuries of the National Museum of Serbia”\, a lecture will be held by Branka Ivanić\, MA\, museum advisor and author of the exhibition\, entitled “Collection of Greek Icons of the National Museum of Serbia”. The audience will have the opportunity to hear a broader and more detailed story about the icons that can be seen at the exhibition and the Greek masters who created in the Mediterranean area during the four centuries of Ottoman rule over the Orthodox countries of the Balkans. \nThe icons from the Collection of the National Museum of Serbia were created to the greatest extent in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Greek Archbishopric of Ohrid or on the Adriatic and the Adriatic hinterland\, the Greek bishops of Philadelphia based in Venice. The greater influx of Greek icons into the Collection took place to the greatest extent by purchase in the decades between 1950 and 1975\, when Belgrade was the goal of migration processes from the southeast to a lesser extent\, and from the western parts of SFRY to a very large extent. In those decades\, along with other objects\, five or more icons of the Greek cultural circle were acquired each year. Consequently\, the largest number of icons with a known place of origin originates from those years. Only thanks to such a massive purchase was it possible to form a collection that reflects artistic events in the past when it comes to the respect and prevalence of Greek icons among Serbs\, known heirs of Byzantine culture. \nThe lecture is held as part of Kraljevo’s Day\, the day of the City of Kraljevo\, when the Serbian Orthodox Church celebrates St. Simon\, that is\, St. King Stefan the First-Crowned\, founder of Žiča.
