SUMMARY:49th Children’s May Art Salon
DESCRIPTION:The award competition of the 49th Children’s May Art Salon had a free theme this year\, which provided the participants with a broad conceptual framework for the realization of creative artistic expression. The goal of the Children’s May Art Salon competition is to highlight the importance of art education\, to adequately value the engagement and effort of individual art educators\, and to recognize the creative potential of their students through the public presentation of the most successful works created in school classes. \nThe Children’s May Art Salon\, according to its rules\, involves the participation of elementary school students from the 5th to the 8th grade from the territory of the city of Kraljevo and is of a competitive nature. The primary selection\, i.e. the jurying for the exhibition\, is performed by art pedagogues\, whose selection of works is evaluated by the Museum’s expert jury by awarding the award for the best selection of student works and the award for the most successful school in the field of art education. In addition to 9 equal prizes awarded to the most creative and technically successful works\, the main prize “Milorad Mihailović” named after the art historian\, curator of the Kraljevo National Museum\, who founded this event\, is specially awarded. \nThe jury for the selection and awarding of prizes at the 49th Children’s May Art Salon\, which met on May 7th\, 2024\, was composed of: Silvija Mitrović\, graduate painter of applied arts\, professor at the Art School in Kraljevo\, Jasmina Vasić\, graduate graphic designer\, professor at the Art School in Kraljevo and Jakov Jakovljević\, graduate graphic designer and illustrator\, president of the jury.

SUMMARY:In the Depts of the Province
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition changes the perspective of ancient and contemporary\, but also illuminates a new type of museum interpretation and protection of heritage. Placing the ancient past in an artistic context\, the exhibition covers a number of topics depicting the heritage of this era\, starting from archaeological sites\, epigraphic monuments\, artistic to useful objects from the Ancient Collection of the National Museum in Čačak. Bringing together photographic frames\, poetic expression\, paintings\, drawings and immediate\, original fragments\, the exhibition connects the time depths of an ancient settlement in the Roman province and the contemporary space of the city of Čačak\, imaginary and real. \nThe young people as models in this project are the current residents of Čačak\, but together with archaeological and architectural details\, decorative and useful items from the Antiquity Collection of the National Museum Čačak\, they create a visual ambience in which the differences between past and present\, life and art are blurred. \nThe authors of the exhibition are the curators of the National Museum in Čačak\, Slobodan Bogojević\, conservator\, and Aleksandra Gojgić\, curator of the Antiquity Collection\, who were joined by the fine artist Ivan Đurović. The authors of the photographs are Bojan Pajić and Ivan Đurović\, while the design of the exhibition was done by Miloš Vuk Aleksić.

SUMMARY:Author’s Guidance through the Exhibition “In the Depts of the Province”
DESCRIPTION:The guided tour by Aleksandra Gojgić\, senior curator of the National Museum Čačak\, through the exhibition “In the Depths of the Province”\, will be held in the Gallery of the National Museum Kraljevo\, on Thursday\, June 13th\, 2024\, starting at 7 p.m. During the tour\, the audience will also have the opportunity to see the film “Antique Time Machine”\, which tells the story of the ancient heritage of Čačak with the use of 3D animations. The complete story about the Roman baths is specially apostrophized: as a universal story about this special type of Roman urban and social place of public life\, the numerous remains of which are present in Serbia\, as well as about the specific monument of this type found in the center of Čačak. \nThe province is a determinant that\, as a concept of the past and the present\, represents a global phenomenon that embodies passivity and peace\, but also a space far from the center of events. Antique Čačak was located on the border of two Roman provinces\, and the archaeological discoveries of its parts were placed in the center of today’s city\, which allowed the fragments of an ancient time to flow into the present. Hence\, the exhibition was conceived through multiple temporal and visual planes\, combining photographic frames\, poetic expression\, paintings\, drawings and immediate archaeological fragments. Discover how the layers of the ancient horizon are connected to modern man by the same territory\, feelings and substance.

SUMMARY:I Repair Memories
DESCRIPTION:The screening of the documentary film “I Repair Memories” directed by Mario Glamazić will be held in the Gallery of the National Museum Kraljevo\, on Tuesday\, June 18th\, 2024\, starting at 7 p.m. The film is dedicated to master Joviša Gudžulić\, and was filmed in the production of “Svetlobor”. \nIn a small shop at the bus station in Kraljevo\, which was almost completely hidden behind the sign “I Repair Memories”\, the great man\, master and Mr. Joviša Gudžulić (1937-2023) spent more than half a century. In front of this strange\, slightly beautiful and terribly ugly world\, Joviša swears in this documentary that she will fight honorably\, not looking for any victory in the outcome of her personal life struggle. He finds peace in his modesty. Peace finds wisdom\, and wisdom seems to drive every truth to flight through the bars of Joviša’s store\, sensing its new warm home in the hearts of future generations.

SUMMARY:Silent Crime: The Atrocities of Albanian Quislings Against Serbs and Jews in Kosovo and Metohija in WW2
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition “Silent Crime: The Atrocities of Albanian Quislings Against Serbs and Jews in Kosovo and Metohija in WW2” by Nenad Antonijević\, PhD\, museum advisor of the Genocide Victims’ Museum in Belgrade\, will be opened in the Gallery of the National Museum Kraljevo\, on St Vitus Day\, Friday\, June 28\, 2024\, starting at 7 p.m. \nEver since 1878 and the formation of the Albanian League (later known as the First Prizren League)\, then throughout the 20th century and the first decade of the 21st century\, in Kosovo and Metohija there was a clearly expressed intolerance of the Albanian political\, intellectual and economic elite towards to the Serbian people\, which escalated into open terror and crimes during extraordinary circumstances (world wars and other armed conflicts) with the presence of foreign military forces. The elite of the Albanian people advocated the idea of creating a “Greater Albania” and in that way ideologically directed the majority of the Albanian population in Kosovo and Metohija\, which was mostly rural and had a low level of education. \nThe goal of the exhibition is to objectively and comprehensively present the suffering of the civilian Serbian and Jewish population in the area of AP Kosovo and Metohija during the period of Italian and German occupation (April 1941 – November 1944) in the context of the state of war and other events in the Second World War. Respecting the historically established facts about the Second World War in occupied Yugoslavia\, especially in the area of AP Kosovo and Metohija\, the author tried to objectively and empathetically present the suffering of Serbs and Jews in the context of wartime events. Also\, in a significant segment of the exhibition\, criminals (inspirers\, commanders\, executors and accomplices) are presented because it is very important to know who they are\, and it is especially important to distinguish the degree of responsibility for the crimes committed. It is important to emphasize that entire nations can never be held responsible for the crimes of specific collective organizations and movements\, armed formations and individuals. \nThe realization of the exhibition was made possible by the Ministry of Culture and the Foundation of the Genocide Victims’ Museum\, and supported by the Museum of Yugoslavia\, the Military Museum\, the Ensemble of Folk Dances and Songs of AP Kosovo and Metohija “Wreath” and the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Priština with its temporary headquarters in Kosovska Mitrovica.
