The Balkan war is one of the main topics of the magazine Le Monde Illustre no. 1498, which was published on December 12th, 1885. Among the illustrations is the “Position of the Serbs” in the Battle of Slivnica, the third and most difficult day of the battle, November 19th, 1885, which ended with the Bulgarian victory, i.e. the retreat of the Serbian army. The French comment is affirmative for the Bulgarian side and reads: “The attack of the Serbs was brilliantly repelled by the Bulgarians.”.
