Necklace with lunar pendant, 4th century, silver and glass paste, Lanište in Korlać near Raška

As part of the archaeological excavations of the rich necropolis of Lanište in Korlać near Raška, which was conducted by the National Museum Kraljevo during 2002, a series of late antique tombs from the 4th century AD was discovered. A necklace made of dark blue and green beads made of glass paste, of different shapes, was found in one of them. At its center is a silver, lunar pendant, with beautifully shaped curved ends and a wide alcove. The necklace, in a combination of water and silver colors, reflects the sense of beauty, both of its owners and the fashion of the time. Modern aesthetics from the 21st century recognize its aesthetics as close to their understandings.
