Mirko Počuča was born in 1915 in Gospić. He graduated from the Academy of Arts in Zagreb in 1941, in the class of Marin Tartaglija and Krsto Hegedušić. At first he was interested in landscape, which he painted in the impressionist manner. Later, he painted still lifes and portraits, as intimate lyrical experiences with an association to music. He welcomed the end of the Second World War in Skopje and in 1947 he exhibited with Macedonian artists. Počuča is the founder of the first post-war art colony in Ilok in 1950. Apart from the National Museum in Kraljevo, his paintings are also in the Lika Museum in Gospić, in the collection of the writer Archibald Kronin and in the collection of the Kennedy family. He passed away on January 15, 1988.
