Dolama, end of the 19th century, Prizren, Kosovo and Metohija

Dolama is women’s outerwear cut bell-shaped with the so-called “čepken” sleeves, which are long, cut and fall freely. They end in a heart shape and have gold thread buttons sewn on. The dolama is sewn from dark red velvet and lined with striped fabric. It is richly decorated with stylized, mostly floral motifs, which are made of silver and gilded threads, gimp, and braids. In the aesthetic sense, the principle of gold and silver on a dark red plush base has been realized, which gives the subject elegance and elegance.
