  • Lojanik: Prehistoric Jasper and Opal Quarry

    Lojanik is a unique paleobotanical site where fossil remains of silicified, petrified wood have been discovered. It was designated a scientific research reserve in 1963. Archaeological investigations conducted between 2016 and 2022 unequivocally confirmed the mining concept of raw material extraction at Lojanik, spanning from the Paleolithic (Old Stone Age) to the Neolithic (New Stone Age).

  • Saint Sava – 850 Years With Us

    The exhibition “Saint Sava: 850 Years with Us” consists of 80 awarded and commended children’s works submitted to the competition announced by the sisterhood of the Žiča Monastery on the occasion of the 850th anniversary of the birth of Saint Sava, the first Serbian archbishop.

    The most significant and oldest exhibition of children's art in our city is being held for the 51st time in a row, as a result of a successfully implemented competition. The aim of organizing the Children's May Art Salon is to highlight the importance of art education, to value the work of individual art teachers and to recognize the creative potential of students by presenting the most successful works created in school classes. This year the theme was free.
