The author's guidance through the exhibition “Inspired by Italy” of the Gallery of Matica Srpska gives a complete insight into Serbian-Italian cultural and artistic ties, following the work of Serbian artists of the 19th and 20th centuries who shaped their artistic works under the influence of the art of the Apennine Peninsula. Through the experience of artists who drew inspiration from the Italian artistic tradition, you will be guided by the curator of the Gallery of Matica Srpska, art historian Stanislava Jovanović Mindić.

From the Collection of Graphics by Foreign Authors of the National Museum of Serbia” will provide visitors with a comprehensive insight into the development and transformation of the depiction of urban landscapes in graphics. The Nazi occupation of Slovenian Styria in the spring of 1941 was a great disaster for Slovenians. In accordance with Hitler's order “Make this country German again!” the occupier wanted to destroy the Slovenian nation in just five years and completely Germanize the country. Among the most important measures were arrests and mass deportations of the population, and Serbia was designated as the end point. From June 7th to July 10th, 1941, 6,802 people were deported from Slovenia to Serbia in 17 transports.

The Allied bombing of Kraljevo and its surroundings is part of a wider military-strategic plan to stop the Second World War. In order to prevent the grouping of German forces and their movement from the Balkans to the Western Front, the commands of the Balkan Military Air Force (BAF) directed a series of aerial bombing missions against military-strategic targets in the Balkans. During 1944, the German army group “E” was attacked, which was retreating from Greece through the Moravian-Vardar valley in the direction of Yugoslavia.

The Church of the Holy Trinity, built between 1822 and 1824, as the founding temple of Prince Miloš Obrenović, celebrates its 200th anniversary. Professor Zoran Gavrić (1949-2020), was an art historian and theoretician, curator and director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, art interpreter and university professor of art history and aesthetics. On the initiative of his wife Gordana and daughter Sofia, part of the library of this excellent intellectual, which mainly relates to contemporary art, was donated to the National Museum Kraljevo as a kind of legacy, numbering over 600 titles.

Perhaps unfairly neglected, and marked by great suffering of citizens, a special period in the history of the city is the time during the Allied bombing of Kraljevo and its surroundings in the period July-September 1944. Aleksandar Berežnov, senior archivist of the Historical Archives Kraljevo, will guide you through the exhibition “Allied Bombing – 80 Years Later”.

The documentary-feature film “Two Branko’s Kozaras”, produced by the Museum of Genocide Victims, is dedicated to the tragic suffering of tens of thousands of innocent members of the Serbian people in the great Croatian-German offensive on Kozara in the summer of 1942. In addition to the film screening, a lecture “Kozara 1942” by Nikola Miloševski, curator of the Genocide Victims’ Museum in Belgrade, will be held.

The author, in his latest work, brings a new, comprehensive view of the era of King and Emperor Stefan Dušan, the most influential Serbian medieval ruler, his role and place in history, viewed through the prism of the past, within the framework of a kind of culture of memory in our environment.

The backbone of the exhibition, whose authors are Suzana Novčić and Ljubiša Simović, museum advisors of the National Museum Kraljevo, consists of works from the museum's Art Collection, of which there are 33 in total. In addition, in order to fully present the work of Ksenija Divjak, the exhibition also includes a significant number of works of art from other institutions: the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, the Gallery of Fine Arts – Gift Collection of Rajko Mamuzić in Novi Sad, the Modern Gallery in Valjevo, and the Art Gallery “Nadežda Petrović” in Čačak.

The Kosovo Covenant is a concept that is being talked about more and more today. Although there is no single definition, it has a clear meaning and visible presence in historical sources. In today's world, oriented towards individualism, materialism, hedonism, and even nihilism, Kosovo's commitment to the Kingdom of Heaven has an almost subversive meaning. This is, by all accounts, the attractive power of the Kosovo Covenant in our time.
