The ideological position on the unity of the people and the dynasty gained new content by emphasizing the idea of the Serbian queen, who arose in the people. The previous ruling wives of Obrenović, Princess Julia and Princess / Queen Natalija, were not of Serbian origin, so the connection between Queen Draga and the Serbian woman, but also the most beloved ruler, Princess Ljubica, was especially emphasized. The Queen’s birthday was marked by ceremonial performances at the National Theater, when the drama “Empress Milica” was premiered on that day in 1902. For her part, Queen Draga made a special Serbian medieval royal costume, following the example of Princess Milica, a medieval Serbian ruler. Representative photographs of the queen in this costume were also a template for correspondence cards printed in Germany, whose original, originating from the private collection of S. F. d’Epere Vujić, can be seen at the exhibition “Our Fellow Citizen Queen Draga, Between Glory and Anathema”.
