Nikola Ivanović in his lecture, analyzed those works of art of the Renaissance and Baroque, which are related to two series by Paolo Sorrentino: “The Young Pope” (2016) and “The New Pope” (2020). He pointed out how Sorrentino’s conceptual solutions, which use a network of recognizable visual symbols, reveal the way in which the apparatus of the universal language of art functions.
During his trip through Italy, which took place from April 8th to May 13th, 1909, Uroš Predić kept a diary, in which he described in detail the places, churches, monuments and works of art that he visited on that occasion. The diary has 143 pages and has not been published to this day, and as an original manuscript it is kept in the Uroš Predić Legacy at the National Museum in Zrenjanin.
Scientific meeting held in the National Museum Kraljevo, August 17th-18th, 2024, as part of the Žica Spiritual Assembly “Transfiguration 2024”. This is the fourth scientific meeting dedicated to the topic “Publications in the Development of Society and State IV: Public Word of Public Figures” organized by the National Museum Kraljevo in cooperation with the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade and the Institute for Political Studies in Belgrade. During two days, four sessions were held at which 14 papers were presented by seventeen authors.
The thirty-third traditional event was officially opened in the Gallery of the National Museum Kraljevo, on Wednesday, August 16th, 2024, starting at 8 p.m. The event was opened by Predrag Terzić, PhD, mayor of Kraljevo, while Darko Gučnin, director of the National Museum Kraljevo, addressed the audience in front of the host and organizers. The exhibition “Cities: A Certain View. From the Collection of Graphics by Foreign Authors of the National Museum of Serbia” was opened by Bojana Borić Brešković, MA, director of the National Museum of Serbia. The exhibition “Inspired by Italy” was opened by Snežana Mišić, PhD, deputy director of Gallery of Matica Srpska in Novi Sad.
The archaeological exhibition “Not Quite the Same, Not Quite Different” was created on the basis of the exhibition “Let Me Tell You a Story” of the Archaeological Museum in Zadar, which visited 20 cities throughout Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. In Serbia, she visited five museums, including the National Museum Kraljevo. From this cooperation, the idea arose that all the host museums together organize a regional exhibition that would unite the different funeral customs in the Roman provinces and show the richness of the common heritage.
The population of Kosovo and Metohija suffered at the hands of the Italian and German occupation authorities, but also at the hands of Quisling’s Albanian collaborators, who were mostly oriented towards the persecution and abuse of Serbs. Their terror was so terrible that neither children nor women were spared, and it included abduction of girls, girls and women, expulsion, wounding, torture and murder, poisoning of wells, destruction of graves and erasure of borders. There is a counterpart only in crimes against Serbs in the Independent State of Croatia during the same period.
The book provides data on the historical development of museum institutions on the territory of occupied Serbia during the Second World War, while the emphasis is also placed on the efforts of the occupying and collaborationist administration to establish museums in cities such as Kruševac, Jagodina and Kraljevo. In addition to documenting these facts, along with a detailed historiographical narrative, the authors also paid additional attention to a number of other aspects of the work of heritage institutions in Serbia during the occupation.
The exhibition changes the perspective of ancient and modern and illuminates a new type of museum interpretation and protection of heritage. Bringing together photographic frames, poetic expression, paintings, drawings and immediate, original fragments, the exhibition connects the temporalities of an ancient settlement in the Roman province and the contemporary space of the city of Čačak, imaginary and real.
The program of the European Museums Night entitled “In Vino Veritas” was held in the Gallery of the National Museum Kraljevo, on Saturday, May 18th, 2024, in the period from 18:00 to 00:00. Wine and viticulture are one of the great themes of heritage, and the program itself was realized in cooperation with the Museum of Spoonsweets – House of Cvetić from Kraljevo and the Museum of Wine and Viticulture from Aleksandrovac.
Srđan Cvetković, scientific advisor of the Institute for Contemporary History in Belgrade, which primarily deals with the analysis of the formation of the personality cult of Josip Broz Tito in socialist Yugoslavia, spoke about the study by Kosta Nikolić, PhD, scientific advisor of the Institute for Contemporary History in Belgrade, and Ena Mirković, PhD, research associate of the Institute for Serbian Culture Priština – Leposavić.
