The promotion of the journal “Our Past” 23, the scholarly publication of the National Museum Kraljevo and the Historical Archive Kraljevo, was held at the Gallery of the National Museum Kraljevo, on Friday, April 17th, 2026, starting at 6 p.m. At the beginning of the promotion, the editor of journal “Our Past”, Tatjana Mihailović, PhD, museum advisor of the National Museum Kraljevo, greeted the audience and introduced the participants.

She reflected on the issue as a whole, which contains nine papers: three in the field of archaeology, four in history, and two in anthropology. In addition, the latest issue includes three reviews. The first, written by Radomir Popović, concerns a published source in two volumes: “Population Census of 1836. Karanovac and Karanovac District I” and “Population Census of 1863. Villages outside Karanovac District, today part of the city of Kraljevo II”, prepared by Bojana Miljković Katić, PhD and Nemanja Trifunović, published by the National Museum Kraljevo. The other two are reviews of exhibitions of the National Museum Kraljevo: “Children in War: Serbian Refugee Homes in Mataruška Banja 1942–1944” – exhibition and monograph by Ljubinka Škodrić, PhD and Mirjana Savić, awarded the prestigious “Mihailo Valtrović” prize of the Museum Society of Serbia in 2024 for best project, reviewed by Katarina Mitrović; and the permanent exhibition “100 Years of the Ibar Coal Mines 1924–2024”, realized in the administrative building of the Ibar Mines in 2024 by Nemanja Trifunović, Oleg Romanov, Nenad Anžela, and Danijela Trajkovska, in cooperation with the Coal Mining Museum Senjski Rudnik, accompanied by a film of the same name by Radoslav Živković, reviewed by Tatjana Mihailović, PhD.

Gordana Gavrić, advisor to the director of the Endowment of the Holy Monastery Hilandar and long‑time associate and director of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments Kraljevo, presented the first three papers in archaeology. These include the work of archaeologist Marina Bunardžić (Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments – Belgrade) entitled “The Cemetery around the Church of St. Peter in Bijelo Polje”; the paper by Vladan Vidosavljević (Museum “Ras” in Novi Pazar) and Irina Kajtez (Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments – Belgrade) entitled “Protective Archaeological Research of the Northern Bastion of the Novi Pazar Fortress in 2021”; and the paper by Aleksandar Ristić (National Library “Dr Milovan Spasić” Rekovac) entitled “The Work of Teacher Todor Bušetić (1863–1919) on Researching the Past of the Levač Region and Neighboring Areas”.

Žarko Ilić, PhD, research associate of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade, presented four papers in historiography. These include Radomir Ristić’s “Prince Mileta Baltić from Studenica Brezova (1778–1856): Contribution to a Biography” and Dragan Drašković’s “Wells in Kraljevo in the 19th Century and the First Half of the 20th Century – Contribution to the History of Urbanism in Kraljevo”, both relating to earlier history. The other two papers concern the 20th century: Miloš M. Damjanović and Jelena M. Damjanović’s “Migrations of Novi Pazar Jews to Belgrade in the Interwar Period: The Behar Family – A Case Study”; and the publication of a newly discovered document in the “Sources” section, Nikola Ozimić’s “Testament of Božidar Baltić”.

The papers in anthropology were presented by Miloš Matić PhD, museum advisor of the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade. These are Violeta Cvetanoska’s (National Museum Kraljevo) “The Tradition of Coffee Drinking in Kraljevo from the Post‑World War II Period to the 1990s”, and “Notes for the History of the Refugee Center in Mataruška Banja” by young author Mirko Savković (doctoral candidate at Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich).

At the close of the promotion, editor Tatjana Mihailović, PhD, thanked all collaborators and participants and highlighted a technical novelty: in this issue the font of the journal was changed, replacing the general font “Minion” with the authorial font “Epigraph” by Dragan Pešić. As a long‑time technical editor of the journal, Pešić, an applied artist, created fonts which he donated by contract in 2019 to the National Museum Kraljevo. “Epigraph” was the font he most often used for the institution’s publications. By changing the font in “Our Past”, the edition is better harmonized with other publications of the Museum, while also serving as a tribute to its long‑time technical editor, who passed away in 2023.
