Exhibition “Portrait of the Art School: 20 Years of the Art School in Kraljevo 2004-2024” Opened

Nadica Lišanin, senior curator of the National Museum Kraljevo and the author of the exhibition, representatives of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia, Marija Krneta and Miodrag Savović, participated in the protocol of the exhibition opening, while the exhibition was opened by Danira Sovilj, PhD Art, assistant at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade. The opening was led by Jana Radović and Miloš Jevtović, students of the third grade of the Art School.

Program “Let’s Try History: Tasting Roman Cuisine” Held

The program organized on the occasion of the closing of the exhibition “Femina Balcanica: Mater, Matrona, Augusta, Dea. Women on the Balkans in Antiquity” included a lecture by the author of the exhibition, Deana Ratković, MA, museum advisor of the National Museum of Serbia, about the culture of food in Roman society, as well as a tasting of six dishes prepared according to old Roman recipes. In addition, the audience could take and take away prepared cards with recipes of Roman dishes in Serbian and Latin.

Workshop “On Dignity and Reputation in Roman Times and Today” Held

The workshop was attended by students of the first year of the Gymnasium in Kraljevo with the professor of Serbian language and literature Nataša Raspopović, while the program was moderated by art historian Jelena Marković. The main idea of the workshop was to consider the importance that the dignity and reputation of women had in maintaining social order and stability in ancient Rome, as well as where these values are today, that is, what expectations modern society places on women.

The topic of the workshop, which was attended by students from two Gymnasiums – from Vrnjačka Banja and Kraljevo with Latin teachers Slađana Opačić and Sanja Bižić, was women in Roman poetry, which is represented in it through different images and roles. For poets, she has always been a primordial inspiration, the one that was the common source of their love and suffering. The workshop was moderated by art historian Jelena Marković.

Lecture by Ilija Danković “Aurelia from Viminacium: From Puella to Matron” Held

In his presentation, Ilija Danković, PhD, presented the entire life path of a particular woman, whose grave was found in Viminacium, and whose name was Aurelia Teodota. This story is partly fictitious and partly based on archaeological records, but in any case, it is very plausible, when it comes to this particular person and the reconstruction of her entire life as an exemplary matron of Roman society.

Workshop “Fashionable Hairstyles of the Roman Era” Held

Workshop within the exhibition “Femina Balcanica: Mater, Matrona, Augusta, Dea. Woman on the Balkans in Antiquity” of the National Museum of Serbia, was held in the Gallery of the National Museum of Kraljevo, on Thursday, March 14th, 2024, starting at 6 p.m. The main idea of the workshop was to reconstruct two hairstyles from Roman times on models – our fellow citizens, and to familiarize the audience with the way these hairstyles were made and their final appearance.

The exhibition of the National Museum of Serbia was opened in the Gallery of the National Museum Kraljevo, on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024, at 6 p.m., as part of the celebration of the Statehood Day of Serbia. In addition to Darko Gučanin, director of the Kraljevo National Museum, Vera Krstić, head of the Department of Archeology of the National Museum of Serbia, participated in the opening protocol, who spoke on behalf of her institution, while the exhibition was opened by Dubravka Đedovnić Handanović, Minister of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia.
