Author’s Guidance Through the Exhibition “Discreet Hero of Heritage”

Author’s guidance by Tatjana Mihailović, PhD, museum advisor or the National Museum Kraljevo, through the exhibition “Discreet Hero of Heritage: Milorad Miki Mihailović, Art Historian Director of the National Museum Kraljevo” will be held at the Gallery of the National Museum Kraljevo on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025, starting at 6 p.m.
Milorad Miki Mihailović was the first art historian and curator of the Art Collection at the National Museum Kraljevo, as well as the institution’s director from 1979 to 1995, when he passed away unexpectedly. September 2025 marks thirty years since his passing, which served as one of the inspirations for this exhibition dedicated to one of the museum’s most influential curators, who successfully led the institution for sixteen years.
This author’s tour opens a window into the Museum during Mihailović’s era, highlighting the values he cultivated, and the key areas of his professional and scholarly focus: from the development of Kraljevo’s visual arts scene, where he initiated numerous exhibitions, publications, and cultural projects, to his collaborations with the Institute for Art History in Belgrade, his editorial work on the journal “Our Past”, and his tireless efforts as director to secure a new museum building – the first phase of which was completed in 1995, when he ceremoniously opened the new Gallery of the National Museum Kraljevo.
