The exhibition was opened in the Gallery of the National Museum Kraljevo, on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023, starting at 6 p.m. The audience was addressed at the opening by: Darko Gučanin, director of the National Museum Kraljevo, Archimandrite Tikhon (Rakićević), abbot of the Studenica Monastery, exhibition author Ljubinka Škodrić, PhD, senior research associate of the Institute for Contemporary History in Belgrade, and Mirjana Savić, museum advisor of the National Museum Kraljevo, while opening the exhibition Bojan Dimitrijević, PhD. scientific advisor of the Institute for Contemporary History in Belgrade. The “Aria” Choir from Kraljevo performed in the musical part of the program.

The final break with the Ottoman feudal society and the liberation of Serbia began with the First and Second Serbian Uprisings. After 1815, Miloš Obrenović continued his independence through diplomatic activities, and at the beginning he managed to collect and pay imperial taxes instead of the Turks, and then, in the name of the people, to lease the imperial spahilukas. In the next step, he becomes an intermediary between the raja of the Serbs and their spahis. Miloš’s mediation between the raja and spahi is evidenced by a letter to Ismail spahi, in which he complains to the people from Konarevo in September 1824 that they do not respect him in the manner and order that was valid until recently.

The scientific conference was held in the National Museum Kraljevo on October 7th, 2023, as part of the celebration of King’s Day, the day of the city of Kraljevo. It is the result of a successful multi-year collaboration between the National Museum Kraljevo, the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade and the Institute for Political Studies from Belgrade.

The presentation of the Collection of Papers published by the Foundation of the Holy Monastery Hilandar, was held in the Gallery of the National Museum Kraljevo, on Thursday, 5th 2023, starting at 6 p.m. The contributions were specially written for this occasion and together form a collection of monographic type that was published on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the death of the Holy King.

Two decades after the death of the artist Svetislav Mandić, its poetic and painting will still live through numerous verses and copies of the frescoes. The man of a sparkling talent who was led through “Imperial roads” to art knowledge by “big and peaceful Raška eyes” will remain remembered by the work that enriched our understanding of medieval culture and art.
