Affectionately known as Grandfather Kratin, the one who “had something of the colour of an angel from Mileševa” in his eyes, passed away on this day, September 30th, 1973, in Belgrade. Quiet and unobtrusive, devoted to his work, Jaroslav Kratina will make the greatest contribution to our fine arts as one of the first copyists and fresco-painting lecturers at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade.

On this day, August 30th, 1903, Milorad S. Jović, was born, a versatile personality, professor, pedagogue, inventor, playwright, director, screenwriter, writer, who will be best remembered as one of the founders and the first director of the National Museum Kraljevo. He was not only a tireless researcher and initiator of the development of all museum departments and collections, but also the bearer of the vision of this institution, as a beacon of culture, which still represents a guide in the work of the National Museum Kraljevo.

On Tuesday, August 29th, 2023, Dragan Pešić, professor at the Faculty of Philology and Arts of the University of Kragujevac, graphic designer and long-term technical editor of the publishing activity of the National Museum Kraljevo, who shaped its visual identity and in a highly refined expression, introduced among the most successful in museum profession.

The edition includes four books by Slavoljub Maržik, MSc, with the theme “Karanovac/Kraljevo in Serbian Press”, in which the period from 1835-1918 is viewed through four chronological frames (1835-1867; 1968-1903; 1904-1908; 1908-1918). This collected material was also the immediate reason for the organization of the first scientific conference, whose Collection of Papers “Publications in the Development of Society and State I: From a Newspaper Report to Objective History. Karanovac/Kraljevo in Serbian Newspaper 1835-1918” is the fifth part of the edition, which completes this topic.

The thirty second traditional event was officially opened in the Gallery of the National Museum Kraljevo, on Wednesday, August 16th, 2023, starting at 8 p.m. The event was opened by Predrag Terzić, PhD, Mayor of Kraljevo, while the exhibition “Jovan Dučić, to his Beloved Trebinje – The Trails of a Vision” from the Legacy of the Museum of Herzegovina in Trebinje was opened by Ivana Grujić, director of the Museum of Herzegovina. The musical part of the program was entrusted to guests from the Music School “Trebinje”.
