The Principality of Serbia became the Kingdom of Serbia on March 6th, 1882, according to the new calendar, and February 22nd, according to the old calendar. According to the testimony of Slobodan Jovanović, this important date was marked by platoons from the Belgrade Fortress. The whole town was decorated with flags, the circle was played in the middle of Terazije, and the young king honored the members of parliament in the court. After the proclamation of the Kingdom of Milan M. Obrenović IV received congratulations and deputations from all over the country.

The year 2022 is the year of the jubilee, when we mark 140 years since Serbia was proclaimed a kingdom, and when our city got its current name, Kraljevo. Therefore, during the year, we will talk about the life and reign of the prince, and the later king, Milan M. Obrenović IV, the main actor in these historical events.

The Feast of Sretenje on February 15th is marked as the Statehood Day in memory of the word in the village of Orašac near Topola on the Ascension Day in 1804, which began the First Serbian Uprising and as the Constitution Day in memory of the first Constitution of the Principality of Serbia – Sretenje Constitution.

In the 19th and the first half of the 20th century, Serbia had three great female artists: Katarina Ivanović, Nadežda Petrović and Milena Pavlović Barilli, the author Lidija Merenik pointed out in the text entitled “Milena Pavlović Barilli: The Portrait of a Lady”. She was placed in the official historical-artistic order of Serbian art only posthumously, thanks to the initiative and legacy of her mother Danica Pavlović, and the understanding and actions of Miodrag B. Protić and Momčilo Stevanović.

Today marks the 80th anniversary of the shooting of the citizens of Kraljevo, hostages in the Camp, carried out by the regular Wehrmacht army, from October 15th to 20th, 1941, in mass revenge – a crime against humanity. On the eightieth anniversary of the crime in Kraljevo, on behalf of each person shot, we remind you of the October events of 1941.

Today we mark 139 years of the name of the city of Kraljevo. After being proclaimed king, on March 6th, 1882, Milan Obrenović undertook a tour of Serbia, during which he came to Karanovac. On that occasion, he granted the request of the citizens of Karanovac and on April 19th, approved the change of the name of the city to Kraljevo by decree.

This year we are marking the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Second World War, which began on the territory of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the so-called April war, from April 6th, 1941, when the German air force bombed Belgrade, to April 17th, when the capitulation of Yugoslavia was signed.

We mark November 29th as the day of the liberation of Kraljevo from German occupation. After 42 days of siege, the combined units of the National Liberation Army of Yugoslavia and the Red Army liberated Kraljevo on the night between November 28th and 29th, 1944.
